Weightloss Program
Guide - Learn All About Safe Dieting and
Exercise!
Since you didn’t gain all of your weight
overnight, don’t expect a weightloss program to work
overnight. People will try just about anything to lose
weight: pills, fad diets, weight loss shakes, herbal
supplements, and even purging. As a result, they end up
doing more harm to themselves than good.
Many “easy weight loss” methods might begin to
work at first, but the weight will come right back if you
don’t take the time to do research and educate yourself
about nutrition and fitness. While some pills and natural
supplements can indeed help you lose a bit of weight, they
need to be taken in conjunction with healthy eating and
exercise. You can’t depend solely on one part of the
weightloss program---you need to take every part of into
consideration. If you become dependent on a pill or a fad diet,
what’s going to happen once you stop with
it?
You must make permanent changes to your diet if
you want to keep the weight off. If you don’t, you will
spend the rest of your life yo-yo dieting, which can cause
more problems than what it’s worth. Thus, dieting isn’t just
about losing weight. It’s about making healthier choices and
getting rid of your bad eating habits.
Once you start making positive changes in your
eating habits, you must never give up. Your body won’t
magically transform overnight, so be prepared to work for a
slimmer body. The amount of weight you lose overtime will
depend on the amount of effort you put into the diet, your
genetic makeup, body type, and so forth. The results of a
weightloss program vary from person to
person.
The simple truth is this: in order to lose weight,
you need to burn more calories than you eat. Now, you should
never outright starve yourself. What you should do is give
up on junk foods, sweets, fattening foods, and soft drinks.
Opt for lean meats, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains
instead. Eat small portions, but more frequently.
Don’t think that you will lose weight if you
simply don’t eat. Your body will be triggered into
“starvation mode”, and your metabolism will slow down
considerably. This is why eating disorders are so dangerous
and worthless in regards to realistic weight loss. Your body
will actually eat tissue for fuel if you don’t feed it
enough nutrition!
The best weightloss program will tackle two
angles at once. It will include you adopting healthy eating
habits and exercising. Now, “exercising” can simply be 30
minutes of walking or getting on the treadmill every day.
Or, you could spend more time cleaning the house or working
in your yard. Just sit down less and stand up a lot more,
and your body will burn fat!
If you have a busy schedule, you should still try
fitting in some daily exercise. What about a fifteen minute
walk as soon as you get up, and another fifteen minutes when
you get home from school or work? Or, if you prefer indoors,
why not some yoga or work out with the Wii Fit? Anything you
can do will help you with your weightloss
program.
It will be even better if you can do two types of
exercises every day. Do some cardio and strength training
both. Cardio will burn more calories at once, and strength
building will create lean muscle mass, which will burn more
calories overtime. Both short term and long term benefits
are important in a weightloss
program.
As mentioned above, smaller portions of healthy
foods are crucial. You should have an idea already of what
foods are “healthy” to eat and which ones are not. Eat about
five or six small, nutritional meals a day, no more than
three hours apart. Portion sizes vary from person to person.
Just cut the fats and starches and eat fruits, vegetables,
poultry, and whole wheat bread.
If, at first, you don’t think any healthy foods
taste good, keep on with them and you will be surprised. In
time, you will get used to the taste and will love it!
Moreover, you will become sick of the junk foods that you
currently enjoy. Your body and taste buds will become so
accustomed to natural tastes, that if you try to eat
artificial sweets, they will make you sick! This may not be
the case now, but it will be if you stick with the
weightloss program.
You may also want to consider taking vitamins
every day. Most people don’t acquire proper nutrients, so if
you don’t, you should start taking multivitamins. This is
particularly true if you are over fifty. If you don’t get
enough vitamins and minerals in the foods you eat, it’s time
to start taking protein supplements and
vitamins.
